Lawley Park

lawley park 173Address : Brunswick Road East, Albany WA

A beautiful historical garden to wander through and take in the views. A set of swings for the kids at one end of the park under the trees but this park holds so much history.  This site was Matthew Flinders campsite on his famous circumnavigation of Australia.  This park also features the Spencer Memorial which was erected in 1901 by the Spencer family descendants to commemorate the contribution given by Sir Richard Spencer & his wife Lady Anne Spencer to the local community. The other feature it holds is home to the Lawley Park Tennis Club where the tennis courts were established in 1912 and are some of the oldest in the region.
