Things to do
Back by popular demand!
When: Tuesday June 25 6.00pm - 7.00pm
Where: Albany Public Library
Today, technology has become an essential part of our kid’s education, developmental and social experience. However, as fundamental and exciting as connected technology can be, it is creating challenges for parents, schools and communities.
Challenges include excessive screen time, apps developed to deceive parents, inadvertent access to adult material, sexualisation, gaming and addictive disorders, sexting, grooming and more.
Cyber safety (and its flow-on effects) is, without doubt, one of, if not, the major issue facing our youth today.
And so we are delighted to partner with ySafe to join us for this important Cyber Safety workshop.
At this event you will be given a rundown of current social media and gaming trends including the hottest and most risky apps in use in our community.
You will also be updated on the current recommendations screen time and how to manage cyber bullying.
Most importantly, you will be provided with practical ideas on setting up a cyber safe home, including how to set and enforce boundaries, how and what parental control technology to use and general digital age parenting tips.
If you’ve ever struggled with getting your kids off their games and into bed, worried about knowing what your child is accessing online, or felt concerned that your child was spending too much time in the digital world, this session is for you!
Please note this is an adults-only event.
