One of Western Australia’s largest displays of wildflowers will be presented at the 30th annual Ravensthorpe Wildflower Show and Spring Festival.
Tourism Minister Kim Hames said the Shire of Ravensthorpe boasted around 2,000 wildflower species, many of which were unique to Western Australia.
“For the past 30 years the local community has celebrated the wildflower season with the Ravensthorpe Wildflower Show and Spring Festival, which features guided bush walking trails, exhibitions and 4WD tours,” Dr Hames said.
“Angus Stewart of ABC’s Gardening Australia will be guest speaker at a gala dinner, and experts on local flowers are on-hand at the herbarium each day perusing hundreds of botanical specimens.
“Incorporating the Ravensthorpe Range; the Hopetoun coast; Frank Hann and Fitzgerald River national parks, the festival offers people the chance to enjoy these spectacular wildflowers in their natural environment with a range of community events.”
The State Government supports the Ravensthorpe Wildflower Show and Spring Festival through Eventscorp's extraordinary one-off round of the Regional Events Scheme, which is funded by Royalties for Regions.
Regional Development Minister Brendon Grylls said he was happy to see the Royalties for Regions funding being used to support long standing community events such as the Ravensthorpe Wildflower Show and Spring Festival.
“With the significant $40million Royalties for Regions commitment to regional events, there is more happening around the State than ever before,” Mr Grylls said.
