On Sunday, January 18, 2015, the Mount Barker Co-operative Mt Barker Grapes & Gallops will hold the Great Southern's richest horse race – the $100,000 Mungrup Sprint and celebrate 125 years of the Mt Barker Turf Club.

Grapes & Gallops is the biggest annual event on the Mount Barker Turf Club's calendar attracting punters from around the Great Southern and Perth. This exciting race day features an 8-race program and includes the Mungrup Stud Sprint over 1300 metres.

  • KidsCulture pilot program begins in the City of Stirling
  • First workshops focus on filmmaking, acting and writing
  • Increase in arts participation since program began in Albany in February  

KidsCulture has kicked off in the City of Stirling with workshops in filmmaking open to all eligible 10 to 18-year-olds in the July school holidays and term three.

A KidsCulture pilot program is being run in the cities of Stirling and Albany as part of the State Government’s commitment to encouraging more young people to become involved in the arts.

Eligible families are entitled to $200 per child to use towards arts workshops and classes.

Archie Roach to headline 10th Anniversary Festival!!

In the 30 years since the release of his debut album Charcoal Lane and his milestone song Took The Children Away, Archie has become recognised as the voice of his people, and his articulate and inspiring songs have touched the hearts and minds of audiences across Australia and around the world.

Together with music from his entire catalogue, Archie will be performing songs from his new album Into The Bloodstream, his first album of new work since 2007′s Journey.

In the three years preceding the release, the singer faced unimaginable challenges, including a stroke, lung cancer and the loss of his partner in life and music, the inimitable Ruby Hunter.
