Securing Philanthropic Support for Regional Arts
When: Thursday 27 September at 2pm - 4pm
Where: Vancouver Arts Centre
Securing revenue from philanthropic sources to support the activities of regional arts organisations, community arts groups and individual artists is a growing opportunity. This seminar will provide an overview of cultural philanthropy in Australia and then focus on the key opportunities for regional arts managers and practitioners. Backed by fundraising theory, James Boyd will provide practical tools on how to raise money exploring foundations, major donations, bequests and fundraising events.
Theory and practice will be followed by open discussion based on local challenges and issues around the topics of tax and donations, foundation applications, bequest programs, major gift fundraising, capital campaigns, crowdfunding and giving circles.
Artsupport Australia is an initiative of the Australia Council for the Arts to grow cultural philanthropy. James Boyd, the WA Manager since 2009, has facilitated over $4million in donations to the cultural sector. He was previously WASO’s Development Manager where he managed one of Australia’s largest arts sponsorship and philanthropy programs, raised $15 million and won twelve fundraising awards.
