Business Advisory Service now a regular feature

Small Business Centre Great Southern (SBCGS) is now providing Katanning businesses, and those in the surrounding towns, with regular sessions to discuss their business needs, issues and opportunities. Although a service has always been available, it's been mainly driven by individual demand and offered on a 'when needed' basis.

This has all changed with the introduction of the new Business Local service, funded by the State Government through the Small Business Development Corporation (SBDC).  The new model of service delivery, coupled with a closer working arrangement between SBCGS and Katanning Regional Business Association (KRBA), will enable us to make regular weekly visits. Businesses can book an appointment to meet privately at the KRBA office, or arrange for a business facilitator to visit them at their premises.
"We’ve been building similar services with Denmark Chamber of Commerce, and Mount Barker CRC and as a result we've seen demand for appointments grow," said SBCGS Manager, Vicki Brown. "Business people are frequently operating in isolation and welcome the chance to bounce their ideas off a neutral third party.
"Planning for growth, putting on employees, developing marketing drives and dealing with regulations are all hot topics for most small business owners.  With the extra resources of the Business Local service we have more opportunities to provide guidance in an unbiased and confidential manner."
SBCGS has grown to include three Business Facilitators, Vicki Brown, Richard Keeler and Mike Lynch. All have broad experience and have been involved in running their own businesses, so they're familiar with the stresses and demands of doing business in the region.
AS SBCGS will  be increasing visits to the north and east areas of the Great Southern, we welcome enquiries from businesses across all 11 Shires in the Great Southern. “With our extra resources, we’ll be able to meet the increasing demand and reduce waiting times for small businesses accessing the service”.
