' A Solitary Style'
The community of Frankland lies within the Shire of Cranbrook, approximately 90kms east of Manjimup, on route from the South West to the Great Southern. Originally settled in mid 1800's Frankland with its rich soil and mild climate has long been associated with quality production of wool, beef and grain. The river, local lakes and plentiful native bushlands provide varied wildlife and flora habitats. Many species of orchids and fragrant Boronia are just some of the delights to be found.
Since the 1970's the name Frankland has been increasingly associated with premium wine production and is presently undergoing huge developments in this area. The olive industry is also set to make its mark on Frankland, the area currently has the largest plantings of olive trees in W.A.
The small township itself overlooks an attractive valley and presents itself as a well-kept and quiet settlement. Only 3 1/2 hours drive from Perth, Frankland provides many professional people with a haven from the bustle of city life and also a peaceful retirement prospect for older couples.
The local Development Group takes an active interest in the promotion and progress of the area and has been responsible for bringing new industries and facilities to Frankland. Many community groups are also active within the town of Frankland.
