Welcome to NARRIKUP

Narrikup is a small, active community situated in the Plantagenet Shire, approx. 20 kms south of Mt Barker. (Between Mt Barker, Denmark and Albany). The farming district extends on either side of the Albany Highway. Traditional sheep and cattle farming is giving way to wildflower propagation and diversification into niche markets such as alpacas, ostriches and cherries, with rapid development of vineyards, plantation forestry and tourism. The small township features a post office and store, a wildflower retail outlet, a community hall, a children's playground, park and picnic areas and sports facilities. It is well placed close to popular tourist atractions such as the Porongurups, the southern coastline and forests.
Accommodation is available in several high quality farm-stay establishments. Pride in the community is evident in the attractive well kept town, a six times winner of the Plantagenet Shire's Inter-Tidy Town competition. New residents have been attracted by the rural life-style, by employment in a large abbatoir nearby and in other developing industries.
Narrikup supports many sporting and community groups, including the Narrikup District Progress Association. Annual events include the Australia Day Breakfast, a Garden Competition, the Outstanding Community Person Award and popular performances by the Narrikup Amateur Theatre Society.
