BOAT FISHING IN KING GEORGE SOUND
BOAT FISHING IN KING GEORGE SOUND
1.  King George whiting caught regularly on the 10m bank. Great spot to anchor in a S/E wind. 8.  A great spot that can be located using GPS and chart. Has produced large groper and heaps of sweep. Also good for large King George and sand whiting.
2.  Belchers Reef.  On the right day this spot will produce a spectacular catch.  Easy to find on the local chart. 9.  King George whiting, sand whiting and squid are common here. Check your bait regularly because of leather jackets.
2.  Pink snapper bank.  Known to produce heaps of small pink snapper.  Check your size limits and have a great day! 10.  Squid galore when drifting. Also great to anchor up against the rocks for a swim or snorkel.  The limestone face of the coast is spectacular.
4.  Coral ground will produce harlequin, Breaksea cod and plenty more. A great day's fishing for the kids. 11.  Salmon Holes. This is definitely not for the boat user, but offshore anglers can have a great day here.
5.  Coral banks continuing from # 4.  With a fish-finder even the best of anglers might be pleasantly surprised. 12.  Oyster Harbour. Great for the inshore angler and younger fishers. Can produce excellent results on a good day. Check size limits before you go.
6.  Michaelmas Reef.  Use your chart to pin point some of the best spots in this area. You could go home with a great catch!  Check the weather before you go. 13.  Princess Royal Harbour. Another variety spot with great catches of blue manna crabs and cobbler. Also great for the kids.
7.  A guaranteed great day for everyone. Spectacular views of Breaksea Island and an abundance of wild life.  Check  your sounder when you are three quarters of the way up the island. Keep 100m off the rocks to find this great reef. Trawling this area almost guarantees a good catch of bonito, kingfish or tuna. 14.  Gull Rock. The north side can be very productive on the right day. Will produce herring and mackerel on the surface and King George whiting and flathead on the bottom.
