With the demise of a local brewery, comments were made by the company spokesman that Albany was not ready for an inovative hospitality industry. It’s not the first time a concept has failed in Albany but has thrived in other cities. Is it true that Albany clings to it’s old habits? So instead of a trendy Tangleheads, we are getting back “our” White Star Hotel. (more…)

The seminar was designed to provide land managers, local councils, small business operators and residents with the latest information and background on the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme, which may have a major impact on and opportunities for the local economy in the Great Southern. This Saturday, 16th May 2009, Western Australians again get their chance to decide the fate of Daylight Savings. Certainly there is more opposition to Daylight Savings in Western Australia than other states.Most of the complaints come about the March ending date, when darker mornings impact more people. Unfortunately the referendum will not be giving the option to approve daylight saving at an earlier finishing date.

 Pardre White
Reverend White was a padre of the earliest ANZACs to leave Australia with the First AIF in November 1914. The convoy assembled at Albany’s King George Sound in WA and at 4 am on the morning of their departure, he conducted a service for all men. (more…)
