2011 65 Roses Day for Cystic Fibrosis Australia

Thursday, May 5th, 2011

Lisa Watson from Western Workwear would like to encourage people to support this wonderfully worthy cause by clicking and donating on her link below :

http://www.everydayhero.com.au/westernworkwear

Cystic Fibrosis Australia is the only national organisation supporting those with Cystic Fibrosis by providing lifesaving research and services across Australia. Through improved healthcare delivery and research, Cystic Fibrosis organisations around the world have helped to increase the life expectancy of those with Cystic Fibrosis from 18 in the 1980’s, to over 37 today. But it’s still only 37. Everyday at Cystic Fibrosis Australia, we strive towards our vision of Lives Unaffected by Cystic Fibrosis.

From the bottom of our hearts we thank each and every one that donates to this cause. You will help to put a smile on the faces of so many people who are living with or supporting someone with this disease.

What is Great Southern Personnel?

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010

GSP Logo WhiteGreat Southern Personnel (GSP) is an agency that helps people with a disability find a job.  Once a participant is in a job, they will help them to keep that job by liaising with the employer, meeting regularly with the participant and providing ongoing training and support where necessary.

GSP is part of the Disability Employment Services (DES) provided by the government and as such is a not-for-profit organisation.  Located in Aberdeen Street, GSP has been in operation for 14 years.  There are five Employment Coordinators and the Manager, all of whom have lived and worked in Albany for many years and have a strong working knowledge of the employment scene.

GSP staff ensure that participants are empowered and play an active role in their own career development.  The organisation provides support to meet employment goals based on individual needs.  In the initial meeting an Employment Coordinator will spend time with the Participant working out their career goals and forming an individual plan for them.

You can find out more about Great Southern Personnel by looking at their website – gsp.org.au.

If you would like to talk to someone about GSP’s services, please call Alan Triplett on 98421510.

If you have any feedback about the website please call Kate Myors on 98421510.

New Partnership To Enhance Great Southern Wine And Food Festival

Great Southern Wine & Food Festival

Great Southern Wine & Food Festival

The Great Southern Wine and Food Festival has moved to April and teamed up with the Harboursound Music Festival to produce a festival that takes advantage of the mild autumn weather and quality entertainment available in Albany at the time.

The major tasting event on Sunday 18 April showcases twenty of the best Great Southern wineries, regional produce and encore performances from some of the international and national entertainment provided through the Harboursound Music Festival.

‘We’ve moved the Festival from December to April to coincide with Harboursound,’ said Great Southern Wine Producers’ Association (GSWPA) Executive Officer John Gates, ‘this should give both Festivals a better chance of sustainability and help to turn autumn in the Great Southern into a really exciting Festival season’.

‘With Harboursound concerts and workshops and GSWPA member satellite events scheduled over the whole weekend, this will be a great weekend to be in Albany’, he said.

The Festival will be held in and around a large marquee on the Grassy Knoll in central Albany on Sunday 18 April. Details are available from www.greatsouthernwines.com.au.

In recent years we have seen increased community awareness
about the threats of climate change and its association with the
accumulation of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
Businesses have also become more aware of the threat of
climate change and, both in response to regulatory measures
and under their own steam, have begun to take action to
measure and manage their carbon footprints. (more…)
