City secures trading opportunity on Australia Day

Friday, January 20th, 2012

The City of Albany has secured an opportunity for Albany businesses to trade for longer on Australia Day.
Businesses will now be able to trade from 9am through to 6pm after the Minister for Commerce Simon O’Brien approved an application made by the City of Albany.
The City backed a National Retail Association and Albany Chamber of Commerce and Industry request brought to the Council’s December meeting.
“This is an opportunity for Albany’s retail community to take advantage of the greater number of visitors on public holidays,” said City of Albany Mayor Dennis Wellington.
“It is an opportunity for all retailers covered by the Retail Trading Hours Act, however it is not compulsory.”
For more information contact City of Albany Tourism Development Manager Matt Bird on (08) 9841 9202 or email matthewb@albany.wa.gov.au.

A Beautiful Day in Albany

Monday, December 20th, 2010
It was a beautiful sunny day with blue skies and a gentle breeze.  It is only an hours walk to Emu Point.  We had lunch at the Emu Point Cafe.  We were so happy to see Emu Point alive and buzzing.  How fantastic that we finally have a place at Emu Point that is open and serves fantastic food.  A cafe with million dollar views.  The smell of coffee as I walk past there once a week is wonderful. As luxury accommodation providers, our aim is to give our guests the ultimate experience while in Albany.  We like to recommend places to eat, so we are trying the many restaurants in Albany.

Tonight we headed off to the ‘new’ Rustlers Steak House. The minute we walked through the door we were immediately impressed by the gorgeous surroundings. Rustlers have chosen their colours wisely and used the space well of what used to be a Health Club. (more…)
