| Brief History |
|
Albany Gateway (Incorporated) is a community managed and owned web portal that was first developed in 1999 with seed funding from Networking the Nation to establish a community and business web portal for the Great Southern region of Western Australia. It was launched on the 19th May 2000. In the past 8 years Albany Gateway has been very successful and proved that it is sustainable with financial support from business advertisers only since 2005.
In 2008 plans were made to develop a new web portal for the Great Southern region to allow the community to benefit from the growing social networking opportunities available using the interactive ‘Web 2.0’ environment as a tool for communication.
Funding was applied for and received from Lotterywest and the Great Southern Development Commission's Regional Development Scheme In support of this project.
The ALL NEW Albany Gateway you are now using was was completed and launched on the 17 April 2009.
