Volunteer bush fire brigades all over Australia provide a vital service to the community, protecting life and property when bush fires, one of the ever present dangers of life in this country, flare up. Even in this fairly temperate part of the country we have seen the sort of conditions which make bushfires so devastating in less fortunate areas, and whilst losses have luckily been kept to a minimum, constant vigilance is needed.
One of the ways in which you can help your community and yourself is to become a member of your local bush fire brigade. You may not wish to be actively involved in fighting fires, but your donations will help to keep this danger under control.
You should also familiarise yourself with the content of your Firebreak Notice, issued by the City of Albany, and ensure that any burning is carried out in accordance with that notice.
