Rocky Gully       Rocky Gully is a small rural town situated in the lower Great Southern region of Western Australia on the Muir Highway, 65 kilometres west from Mount Barker and 95 kilometres east of Manjimup. Frankland is close by. The Aboriginal name for Rocky Gully is "Chullurup", meaning "Place of the white ant nests". Rocky Gully began soon after world war two with "Tent town" until houses were built by the War Service Department. Main occupations are sheep and cattle farming, vineyards, a timber mill and blue gum plantations. Over the years the population increased with the uptake of new farming lands to a point where there were over 100 children at the school. But numbers have now decreased, to 34 as farming has become less economically viable and blue gum plantations have replaced the agricultural enterprises. Volunteer community spirit provides Ambulance, Fire Brigade and Library services. The locals belong to many clubs including: Lions, Cricket, Darts, C.W.A and the Action Group which have been active in providing new Public Toilets, Parks and a Playground. Rocky Gully is serviced by a Shop/Post Office, Service Station, Hotel, Nursery, Building Contractor, Mechanic, Carpenter and our School. Our school began as a single classroom moved here in May 1951, from Dwellingup It now consists of 4 classrooms and an outdoor area which caters for preschool to year 7 aged students. .
