Frankland is situated approximately 370 kms south west of Perth, the capital of Western Australia. The drive takes a comfortable 3 1/2 to 4 hours coming down the Albany Highway, the most direct route from Perth. Many alternate routes are available for those with more time to spare.
Frankland is a town of approximately 85 people, within the Shire of Cranbrook. General facilities include a general store, roadhouse, hairdresser, cafe, library, caravan park, Telecentre and good sporting and recreational facilities. An airstrip is situated approximately 10 kms to the west of the town.Accommodation is available at the caravan park, b&b or chalets.
The roads into Frankland are sealed, apart from a short section on the road from Manjimup.Please take care as kangaroos are sometimes on roads which travel through natural bushland sections.
Finding Your Way Around
Although Frankland does not yet have a Tourist Bureau as such,tourist information such as a district map, brochures and a friendly face to hand them out is available in Frankland at the Frankland River Telecentre or Frankland General Store.
Frankland has its own Heritage Trail and brochures with a map and information are available from the Frankland Telecentre and Library, Cranbrook Shire office and Frankland General Store, Frankland.
Other information regarding Frankland and the surrounding areas are available at the Tourist Information Bay in Moir St., the Cranbrook Shire Office and Mt Barker Tourist Bureau.
General information regarding directions to vineyards etc, can also be obtained by calling in at the Frankland Telecentre or the Frankland Store and asking the friendly owners there!!
