Wireless Broadband for Frankland & Cranbrook

Following careful consideration of companies offering wireless broadband to regional Western Australia, Cranbrook Shire Council and Frankland River Telecentre have agreed to work with Comdek/BroadbandNet to supply wireless broadband to our shire.

An exciting new era of broadband telecommunications delivered via a wireless network is now on offer to residents and businesses across the region.

BroadbandNet and Comdek are WA based companies that have formed a joint venture partnership to deliver wireless broadband to regional Western Australia. Comdek/BBNet Wireless is a HiBIS registered wireless Internet service provider with its head office located in Myaree. Their mission is to provide high quality broadband wireless communications to regional WA where traditional broadband services are not available. This state-of-the-art network can deliver broadband Internet at speeds up to 14MB per second with high-level security and quality service.

The companies’ access funding through the Commonwealth Government HiBIS broadband subsidy scheme to offset the cost of delivering these services to regional areas. This Commonwealth Government scheme has been made available to assist individuals and businesses to have access to a low cost broadband solution.

Clients are offered a wide range of broadband Internet monthly plans at prices comparable to those in the capital cities. Plans start from $29.95 per month.

Comdek/BroadbandNet offer customers:

No sign-up fees     No installation fees     No equipment costs     No line rental     No obligation - 30 days free trial
6 free email addresses with all plans     20MB free personal web space     7 day technical support     Free spam filtering and email virus scanning

Already a WestNet dial-up customer? Due to a current contract with WestNet, clients can retain their current WestNet email addresses when signing-up with BroadbandNet.

Using the latest Motorola and Airspan products Comdek and BroadbandNet have designed their own wireless backbone from Perth into regional WA.

To receive this service it is necessary to install a small 30 cm antenna on the customers house or business premises.

In addition to deploying infrastructure Comdek/BroadbandNet have made a commitment with local communities by contracts with local Telecentre’s, to provide local sales and to support broadband customers.

Local residents have already indicated a desire to sign-up for wireless broadband by registering their interest at the Telecentre. These customers will be contacted over coming weeks with information on the new service including pricing plans and expected service availability.

Businesses and residents not on the broadband register interested in a broadband service are encouraged to contact the Telecentre.

Once the minimum number of applications have been lodged with Comdek/BroadbandNet work will commence on this service. It is envisaged that this will be in early 2006.

For further information or an application form please contact the Telecentre on Phone/Fax 9855 2310 or by email: frtele@wn.com.au.
Application forms are also available at the shire offices in Gathorne Street, Cranbrook during business hours.
