Come and spend a day or two in the Frankland River Region! This picturesque, and yet mostly undiscovered area is only just over an hour's drive from Albany, and only 20 mins drive in from the Albany Highway, turning off at Cranbrook. Why not take a detour and see whats happening in this dynamic area!
The Frankland River region is well known for producing top quality wines and there is wine tasting facilities at Alkoomi , Ferngrove and Bobtail Ridge. Take a drive and see all the new vineyards flourishing in this regions ideal soils and climate.
Just north of Frankland you will see the huge olive groves, owned by the Frankland River Olive Company. This new industry is set to take off in this region, with local oils already winning Gold Medals in Olive Oil Competitions. Several smaller groves have been planted in the area and the trees are already bearing crops of quality oil producing olives.
Drop in at the Frankland River Telecentre and get some local tourist information, or use the facilities to check your emails if you are away from home.
If you have a few hours to spend, grab a Heritage Trail brochure and visit some of the local historic sites. In spring time a wealth of wild flowers will greet you along the road verges and in the nature reserves. Frankland is home to the rare and endangered Cossack Orchid.
If you are into water sports, Lake Poorarecup is the place to be in summer for water skiing and sailing. The lake has toilets, water and picnic facilities.
