****************** PLEASE NOTE: LET’S CELEBRATE BY EXPLORING THE SOUTHERN SHORE!
The Wildflower Society of WA is celebrating its 50th Anniversary, with a weekend at Camp Quaranup, hosted by the Albany Branch of the Society over the weekend of 1st and 2nd November 2008.
Most of the beds are bunks, dormitory style (please state if you are unable to sleep in a top bunk). Each has a mattress, pillow and one blanket (BYO bedding, sleeping bag and towel).
Registration is $130 for all-inclusive accommodation, meals (BYO drinks), guided tours, guest speakers and breakfast on the ‘Silver Star’ cruise.
Deductions of $20 are allowable for people with accommodation elsewhere and for those not wanting to go on the boat trip, $30 may be deducted.
N.B. Early registration is essential due to ‘terms’ with accommodation & boat operator.
Saturday: Registration from 11am, ready for welcome lunch.
Walks (in small groups) with a guide to observe our flora with a break for afternoon tea. A chance to compare notes and photos.
Back to camp to freshen up for a sundowner, then Dinner, when we will have a guest speaker to intrigue us.
Sunday: A bright and early start (7.30!) for a boat cruise with Breakfast aboard. View the coast from a different perspective and with luck, some of the marine life here. See the areas where the early explorers and botanists visited and began their collections.
Quaranup for morning tea followed by another guided walk to a different area.
Lunch at Quaranup – time for farewells. Finishing approximately at 2.00pm
Please note: The Herbarium is to be opened especially for you, so that you may do a visitor’s tour: this is optional but members will be there to answer your questions or show you any requested plants.
If the weather is FOUL there will be alternative activities to amuse and entertain you.
The walks are of varying challenges but not too taxing. A group will be made up for guests unable to walk far. Note, the walks are not suitable for wheelchairs.

The park can be accessed by road from Albany, 80 kms, and the highway passing through Katanning and Broomehill.
