Here is a message from our good friends down at the Albany Surf Life Saving Club Keeping our Beaches Safe Albany Surf Life Saving Club is soon to start its patrolling season and is having its registration day on Sunday 21st September from 9:30am until 11:00am. The club has a range of activities for all age groups, abilities and interests that run on Sunday mornings, Juniors (6 to 13 years) starting at 9:00am and Seniors (14 years and above) starting at 10:30am. The activities that people can become involved in though the Surf Life Saving Club include: patrolling, competitions in disciplines from running, swimming, paddling and rowing, awards in life saving, first aid, rescue craft and education, leadership and importantly lasting friendships. The Surf Club season starts the first weekend in November and runs through the summer. If you would like to know more come to our registration day on Sunday 21st September or call Andrew Brown on 0417 188 518.
Country Pennants - 2009 Next year, country pennants is to be held in Carnarvon. Due to the distance to travel and organisation required, letters are being sent out shortly inviting swimmers to train for the team. Below is a statement on the selection process.

If you would like to participate in this enjoyable weekend please add your name on the white board down on pool deck New Swimmer Assessments and Registration is Continuing Throughout Winter New swimmers still thinking of joining up, come along during the school holidays in July on Monday, Wednesday or Thursday at 4:45 and there will be a coach available. Registrations are fine throughout winter while squads are still learning drills and exercises. Come along to our time trial night on Fridays. Starting at 5:30pm, new swimmers can have an assessment with one of our coaches to be placed into the appropriate squad. New swimmers can register and pay at the Centre once squad placement is finalised. Time trials is an opportunity for swimmers to gain accepted times, as it is run in accordance with Swimming WA rules. Warmup at 5:30pm, starts at 6pm and goes for around one hour. Sponsors Albany Swim welcomes our new sponsors: Healthway, SunSmart and The Cancer Council of Western Australia. These agencies are supporting two of our events, the SunSmart 2008 Albany Swim Short Course, and an Open Water Swim event proposed for the summer of 2009. Assistance is also being provided to increase participation in the fabulous sport of swimming! Albany Swim is proud to be a SunSmart club, and actively promotes a healthy environment for all members.
Oji Paper Co. Ltd and Albany Swim are please to announce the commencement of a new partnership. Oji Paper are represented in Albany through the Albany Forestry Research Centre and Albany Swim is proud to be associated with this progressive company providing research and support for environmentally sustainable forestry practises in the Great Southern. Oji Paper are supporting Albany Swim with contributions to new uniforms in the 2008/2009 season!
