What's New on Albany GateWAy?

  • The Apply for Membership option has been renamed to Join GateWAy in the Who's on GateWAy pull-down menu.
  • The Membership Application wizard has been renamed to the Joining Application wizard, and references to "membership" have been removed.

  • Iconic images now appear with each category in GateWAy Classifieds.
  • The number of items in each category is now displayed next to the category headings on the GateWAy Classifieds Home page.
  • A GateWAy Classifieds Home button has been added to each category page to allow you to return to the feature home.
  • It is now possible to upload images with each classified advertisement.

  • GateWAy Classifieds, Albany GateWAy's new facility for accepting and presenting classified advertisements online, is now available. A new "GateWAy Classifieds" option has been added to the Feature menu to provide direct access to the new facility.

  • The Membership Application Wizard has been updated to reflect further changes in the pricing structure, with discounts offered for Albany GateWAy shareholders.

  • Randomly selected, sponsored banner advertisements (434 x 59 pixels) once again appear at the top of each page. The Administration system has been modifed to support the change in size.
  • The layout of the Home page has been modified to support additional content.
  • The sponsorship of the Community Calendar by the City of Albany and the Great Southern Regional Marketing Association is acknowledged on the Home page and each page of the Community Calendar.
  • It is now possible for all authorised Administrators and event information authors to remove events from the Community Calendar using the new Delete Event button.

  • The look of Albany GateWAy has changed - a bit of a face-lift if you like! The links are still the same in the top banner, however, what was called Members has been renamed to Who's on GateWAy, to encourange people using Albany GateWAy to see our members and search for their services.
  • The Directory link has changed to display both the GateWAy REGIONAL Trades and Services Directory and the Albany Chamber of Commerce and Industry's online Directory.
  • The search facility has been located to the top left hand side of the home page.
  • The member and editors login facility has been relocated to the top right hand side of the home page.

  • A fully-automated Shopping Mall has been incorporated to showcase the portal's e-commerce merchants. The mall includes its own dedicated self-configuring tool bars and search facilities that scan the merchant name, merchant description, business categories, product categories, products and product descriptions for matches with the search criteria.
  • Secure payment facilities are now available for Shopping Mall vendors with supporting credit card merchant facilities in place at their banks.
  • Albany GateWAy's search facilities have been expanded to include the entries from the new Shopping Mall.
  • The Shopping icon on the home page is now connected to the new Shopping Mall.
  • It is no longer necessary to log in to the site prior to commencing an e-commerce order. This requirement is now enforced only when the Place Order button is pressed on the Your Shopping Cart page.
  • New events can now be entered into the both the Community Calendar and the What's On pages directly from either of these pages. Previously, although the events still appeared in both pages, it was only possible to enter the events via the Community Calendar pages.
  • The Trades and Services Directory pages have been reformatted to remove the requirement for the e-mail address and telephone number for each business to be fitted on 1/3 line (to facilitate 3 columns per page). Previously, this requirement, combined with the presence of long e-mail addresses, caused the listings to expand beyond the available width of the browser page, thereby activating the horizontal scroll bars, regularly. This may still occur, though far less frequently, when exceptionally long words in business names or e-mail addresses are present.
  • The Members Listing and Business Listing pages have been updated to advertise the availability of the online version of the ACCI Directory.
  • It is no longer possible for Albany GateWAy members to select Community Service Group (CSG) categories from the ACCI Directory when specifying the categories under which they would like to be listed in the Trades and Services Directory. Previously, these categories were erroneously included as options in the Membership wizard (and have never been included in the Albany GateWAy Trades and Services Directory.)
  • [v1.03] Where available, mobile phone numbers are now included with business listings in the online version of the ACCI Directory.
  • [v1.03] The image of the 2002 release of the Directory at the bottom of the help section for the ACCI Directory has been replaced with the image for the 2003 release of the Directory.
  • [v1.03] The Business Categories Administration page for the ACCI Directory has been expanded to include options for the new Shopping Mall.

  • The Real Estate option on the Feature menu now bypasses the Real Estate feature and links directly to Land Searcher.
  • The links from the Trades and Services Directory to newly-activated Albany Chamber of Commerce members now operate correctly. Previously, the affected members were erroneously linked to the Albany GateWAy Member Listing.

  • An alternative layout for the events in the Community Calendar has been implemented. The new layout is called What's On in the Great Southern? and lists the next 2 months (or as otherwise requested by the user) of events in the town or topic of interest. It includes the start and finish dates and times, name, description, venue and contact information for each event. Where applicable, links are provided to pages of additional information and relevant e-mail contacts.
  • The Community Calendar option on the Feature menu and the individual coming events themselves now link to the What's On in the Great Southern? feature. The calendar format can still be accessed from a link at the top of the new feature and vice versa.
  • Access to the What's On in the Great Southern? feature has been included in the links from each town and topic. These changes will take effect as each town and topic is republished.
  • The Real Estate icon on the front page now bypasses the Real Estate feature and links directly to Land Searcher.

  • The Real Estate feature has been created. A new Real Estate option has been added to the Feature menu and a new icon has been added to the Home page to facilitate access to this feature.

  • The map on the Home page has been expanded to include the town of Darkan, which is now also one of the towns serviced by Albany GateWAy and can be accessed via the Town menu.
  • The map on the Town page has been updated to ensure that it remains synchronised with its counterpart on the Home page.
  • The image of the ACCI Directory has been updated to reflect the new design for the 2003 version of the directory.

  • The Albany Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Business and Community Directory is now online and integrated with Albany GateWAy.
  • Albany GateWAy's Trades and Services Directory that is linked to each town and topic has been expanded to include the entries from the ACCI directory and to link those entries directly to the online pages of the ACCI directory.
  • Albany GateWAy's search facilities have been expanded to include the entries from the ACCI directory.
  • The Directory menu provides access to the various sections of the ACCI directory.
  • The home page has been rearranged to accommodate the ACCI Directory and simplified to provide quick access to commonly used areas of the portal. More room is now available to the events calendar. Four button advertisements can now be accommodated at the top of the home page to provide high level exposure for additional advertisers.
  • The Discussion menu has been replaced with the Directory menu. The discussion boards can now be accessed via the Discussion Boards option on the Features menu.
  • The Accommodation section has been expanded to include more towns in the Great Southern region of Western Australia.
  • A new Online Shopping section has been created to provide more exposure for Albany GateWAy's online merchants.
  • An option to change your Albany GateWAy membership details is now presented when you log in.
  • Minor problems with the Membership Wizard have been rectified.
  • New facilities for laying out and bulk e-mailing the Albany GateWAy newsletter have been incorporated into the online administration system.
  • Additional business categories for the Trades and Services Directory can now be entered via the online ACCI directory administration facilities.
  • The third page format is now triggered at a screen width of 1074 pixels instead of the previous width of 1024 pixels. The header at this width now displays 3 photos on each side of the Albany GateWAy logo. Previously, only 2 photos and a small band of solid colour were displayed.
  • The IT Award logo has been replaced with the Networking the Nation logo on the footer of each page to reflect the support provided by this program of the Commonwealth Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts for Albany GateWAy: E-gateWAy, the Next Phase. The footer banner ad and the other logos have been removed or rearranged to accommodate this change and to improve the loading times of the pages.
  • The What's New page on the Help menu now has content.
  • The FAQ option has been removed from the Help menu.
